When French-owned Le Bouchon originally opened near the Ton Le Sap River several years back, it felt more a place of wine and partying than a restaurant. In 2017, it relocated to a fancy French colonial villa back off the river. The wine still flows freely but food is now front and centre. It’s one of the nicest spaces in Phnom Penh. You get the sense the owners are targeting French expats but they’ll struggle keeping all-comers away. It's a tad fancy but the pricing is reasonable and the menu unpretentious. The clientele seem to be keeping the feel casual. I had a starter, a main and a glass of wine and spent $16.50US. You can drop by for a glass of wine if you've already had dinner. Bouchon hosts regular live music and the occasional party.

Rusty Compass listings are always independent. We list the places we think are worth knowing about. Our Featured Listings allow a small selection of businesses already recommended by us, to pay a fee for a place at the top of our list. That’s it. Featured Listings have no impact on reviews, or on the curation and independence of our lists.
