The craft beer thing has touched down in Phnom Penh and Botanico beer garden is the best place to check out the range of local brews.

Down an alley off St 29, Botanico is a classic beer garden with a community vibe. Owned by two American brewers based in Phnom Penh, they serve both their own concoctions, under the Cerevisia brand, as well as other craft beer creations from around the city.

Co-owner and brewer Erich, describes Botanico as a perfect “third place” “where you go to be with friends, to belong, and where everyone knows your name”. Judging from our visits, the concept has struck a chord with the city’s expats.

It’s especially busy on weekends -  a great place for full-flavoured beers and conversation.

May not be such a good choice on a wet night.

Botanico also serves food and wine by the glass.
