Thach Dong pagoda is set in caves in a limestone mountain 4km west of Ha Tien. The pagoda has suffered from recent "upgrades" but is worth a visit. The views across Vietnam and into Cambodia are impressive.
At the base of the mountain is a clenched fist monument that commemmorates 130 Vietnamese murdered by the Khmer Rouge in 1978. These and other similar border attacks prompted Vietnam's invasion of Cambodia and the ousting of Pol Pot's Khmer Rouge regime in January 1979.
