Be sure to take a late night walk through Hoi An's old streets during a visit to the World Heritage listed former trading town. They're deserted by about 10 o'clock so you won't have to wait up too late.
With the shutters pulled across, classic old timber doors locked up and the sellers clocked off for the day, you'll get a better chance to look over the architecture for a timeless view of the town. You definitely won't be tripping over other travellers, hawkers or motorcycles. It's eerily quiet. And you'll notice things that you simply won't pick up during the day as well - especially what happens above the shopfronts.
These images are from a slightly wobbly wander through the streets last week with a little Lumix G3 consumer camera using a 20mm, 1.7 fixed lens. It's very dark out there so you'll need some fast equipment - even if it's only a consumer level portable.
