The internet is so packed full of sunset images that I tend not to post them. And most of those I see are far better than anything I can shoot anyway.
But during my recent visit to Kep a few weeks ago, all the elements for some very nice shots came together.
Kep's reputation as a beach destination is deservedly modest. The water is brown close to shore and the beach rocky and generally not terribly welcoming.

But sunset at the Sailing Club is fairly reliable. The open timber building is itself photogenic and Vietnam's Phu Quoc Island on the left and Bokor Mountain at Kampot on the right make perfect backdrops. It's a very mellow spot for a sunset cocktail.
The real magic of my recent visit though was the unusually high tide crashing up against the jetty and the sea wall.

Oh, and dinner wasn't bad either.
Definitely one of the most memorable sunsets in a while. I shot it with a Panasonic Lumix GH3 on a 12mm - 35mm lens. Hope you enjoy the pics.

I adore this place. Such a great find... I think it might just be my favourite spot in Cambodia. I especially love the wicker basket seats that hang from the trees at Knai Bang Chatt - the perfect sunset spot :)
