If you’re not staying at the Raffles Grand Hotel d'Angkor, The Elephant Bar is a good way to sample its 1930s colonial architecture and storied history. It's one of Indochina's most handsome hotels. The Grand hosted the rich and famous before Cambodia's tragic descent into war in the 1960s and has done since the country's reopening to the world in the 1990s. The Raffles is about as far away from the heaving masses on Pub St as you can get - a good choice if you want to raise the tone of your night out over a drink. Dress up for some excellent cocktails, wines - as well as cigars - if you’re into them. Prices are high for Cambodia but reasonable for the setting.

Rusty Compass listings are always independent. We list the places we think are worth knowing about. Our Featured Listings allow a small selection of businesses already recommended by us, to pay a fee for a place at the top of our list. That’s it. Featured Listings have no impact on reviews, or on the curation and independence of our lists.
