Cambodian Vietnamese, Mr Dang was born on the Mekong in Phnom Penh in the late 1940s. He's one of a vast community of Vietnamese who have lived in Cambodia for generations. In 1971 as the security situation for them became intolerable, he and his family fled for Dong Nai, outside of Saigon in Vietnam, to an ancestral home he had never before visited. In the early 1980s, at the end of the Khmer Rouge reign of terror and along with thousands of other Vietnamese, they resettled in a Vietnamese enclave of fishermen on the Mekong at Phnom Penh, near his place of birth. He's been there ever since. Here he prepares for the arrival of the Year of the Goat, his family nearby. Chuc Mung Nam Moi! Happy New Year!
Rusty Compass listings are always independent. We list the places we think are worth knowing about. Our Featured Listings allow a small selection of businesses already recommended by us, to pay a fee for a place at the top of our list. That’s it. Featured Listings have no impact on reviews, or on the curation and independence of our lists.
