Tra Su bird sanctuary, about 25 kilometres from Chau Doc is a surprisingly serene and beautiful spot. I'm told it's at its best between September and November when the Mekong is peaking with wet season rains. Even during my April visit in the depths of the dry season, I saw bird life and loved the atmosphere as we paddled through small shaded canals. You don't need to be an avid bird watcher to enjoy it.
Rusty Compass listings are always independent. We list the places we think are worth knowing about. Our Featured Listings allow a small selection of businesses already recommended by us, to pay a fee for a place at the top of our list. That’s it. Featured Listings have no impact on reviews, or on the curation and independence of our lists.
