Hang Duong Cemetery is a vast cemetery where the victims, many unknown, of the prison complex run first by the French and then by the US backed South Vietnamese government, lie buried. It's the resting place for some of Vietnam's most celebrated revolutionary heroes.

Probably the most famous is Vo Thi Sau. She was executed by the French in 1951 for her revolutionary activities including the murder of a French official. She was still a teenager. Vo Thi Sau is a national hero, immortalised in statues and street names in cities and towns throughout Vietnam. Her tomb is one of the most prominent in the cemetery.

Hang Duong Cemetery was created out of a mass burial ground established by the French where the bodies of deceased prisoners were dumped. It was nort until the end of the war in 1975 that a proper cemetery was establshed here.

Located less than 2kms north of Con Son town, Hang Duong Cemetery is easily accessed by bicycle or on foot.
