Hanoi is surprisingly short on nice places to enjoy a glass of wine. 88 Lounge fills the gap nicely with an extensive wine list from old and new worlds (Australia has been conspicuously overlooked), cool design and a friendly casual feel. It’s usually mellow too.
Prices are reasonable for the style.
Architect owned, plenty of thought went into the design. Set over several floors (3 I think but it might be 4), there’s a good mix of open air and indoor space, to suit Hanoi’s variable summer and winter climate.
There’s also a menu of western food that looks tasty. I’ve only tried the cold cuts and cheeses - which were delicious. Other dishes get good raps from Hanoi residents too.
