Location
About 5 minutes from downtown - depending on traffic. In an interesting local part of Saigon. There are local eating options and some nice colonial era buildings in the tree-lined street. One of Saigon’s best parks is right across the street too.
Rooms feel and everything else
These guys converted a 1990s bank building to a hotel - we were impressed right away. Love a good conversion. Downstairs has a welcoming cafe vibe and cafe style treats, with an emphasis on healthy stuff.
Rooms are bright and modern, and bathed in natural light.
The message in the lobby sounds a tad token. It reads “We don’t care if you’re black, white, short, tall, fat, skinny, rich or poor. We will embrace you as one of our own. Simple as that”. We’re assuming that full payment for rooms is another prerequisite for the promised embrace?
Apart from that, we like this place. And we sense tokenism is alive and well in the tourism industry.
Book a room on a higher floor to ensure you have a view.
The lead-in rooms are 32sqm and would probably not be normally considered suites - but they are generous in size as hotel rooms.
Corner rooms are 42sqm. Most rooms enjoy plenty of natural light and interesting views across the city - including one of its best green spaces.
There's no pool so this won't be your choice if you like to cool off with a dip.

Rusty Compass listings are always independent. We recommend the places we think you should know about. That’s it. We haven’t stayed at Fusion Suites but we’ve visited on two occasions. No payment was received for this listing.
