Review
Hoi An Riverside was one of the first hotels in Hoi An and Vietnam that set out to establish a small boutique feel with attractive timber villas, lush gardens and a picturesque riverside setting. Hoi An has changed plenty in ten years but Hoi An Riverside Resort remains one of the town’s better properties.
Location
Located mid way between Hoi An town and Cua Dai beach, Hoi An Riverside Hotel has good access to both by bicycle or taxi - not on foot. So if you want to be on the beach or in the town, this place won’t be for you. Hoi An Riverside Resort works for those wanting to be in a more rural and usually more serene setting. Remarkably, as Hoi An town spills over into what was farmland, the immediate setting of the resort remains as picturesque as it was on opening in 2000.
Architecture, ambience, people
Hoi An Riverside Resort is thoughtfully designed making great use of the riverside setting. Rooms are set in groups of four in attractive two story bungalows - all with balconies. The lead in rooms are on the small side as are the balconies. The bungalows are fairly tightly spaced as well though the generous gardens and small ponds create a sense of space where there isn’t much.
The larger rooms are a better bet. Pricing is higher than it should be and the hotel’s dual pricing for locals and foreigners seems an anachronism. Vietnamese travellers pay 10 - 20USD less than foreigners per room.
Staff were friendly and helpful during our visit though there have been plenty of reports of unpleasant experiences at checkout and with the restaurant.
Facilities brief: Nice pool, spa, internet, gardens and more.
