Review
There was a time when this was the only hotel in Hoi An. It’s difficult to tell now but the main building of the complex dates back to French colonial times. In the early 1990s it was dorm for backpackers. But as tourism has boomed, the hotel owners, until recently the local government, have cashed in and created the sprawling beast that it is now.
Location
Hoi An Hotel has a great location right in the centre of town. It’s a short walk to the old town and the beach is 5 kms.
Architecture, ambience and people
Piecemeal extensions over the past fifteen years across the hotel’s sizeable plot of land have flushed out most of the original character of the place. The tour coach parking and generous lashings of asphalt that dominate the facade don’t help. But the most recent renovations have made some big improvements in the rooms. Public areas won’t be taking any design awards but the rooms are now airy and a big improvement.
Further room improvements are under way in the main block that will further lift the general room offerings.
Facilities are very good for the price and staff, many of whom have worked here for decades are friendly and efficient.
Facilities brief - air con, TV, mini bar, free wifi, swimming pool, spa and more.
