Introduction
This handpicked selection of Phu Quoc's best resorts was compiled in December 2015. Our recommendations are independent. No money changes hands for a recommendation.
After years as Vietnam's most beautifully serene destination, Phu Quoc Island's seen a recent surge in new resort developments - many of them mediocre. And this is just the beginning. Choose your resort carefully.
Before you choose where you want to stay, you need to work out two things. Do you want to spend up big in luxury or keep it eco-friendly and very simple? And do you want to stay on the more developed Long Beach or on a remote stretch of beach where isolation and privacy are a big plus, but access to restaurants and other island life is less convenient?
We've carefully scoured the island for the best options covering both the luxury and eco bases. And we're delighted that Phu Quoc has its first totally solar-powered resort - Bamboo Cottages.
Remember that rates on Phu Quoc vary widely between the low season (May to August) and high season. Things get extra expensive at Christmas, New Year and Chinese New Year.
